Green Bay Packers 2012 Opponents

I'll admit, I'm still not quite over the Packers vs. Giants playoffs loss at Lambeau Field. From 2008 and most recently on the 21st of January. With a 15-1 regular season record, I thought the Packers had the Super Bowl in the bag. Of course, given the nature of football, nothing is certain and anything can happen on any given Sunday. I'll get over the Packers loss eventually. What really helps get over the disappointing end to the Packers season is to look ahead to the Green Bay Packers 2012 season. I'm already thinking about Green Bay Packers tickets and which Packers road games I might want to attend. Here are the Green Bay Packers 2012 opponents:

We've got the usual NFC North suspects and then some other surprises. I would have loved to see the San Francisco 49ers face the Packers this past season as they were the number 2 seed and viewed as the Packers biggest threat. It will be great to see the two teams in action next season. I'm thinking that I'd like to travel to either Seattle or New York to see the Packers play. Sure, Indianapolis and St. Louis are about a day's drive away, but I'd like to go all out for a Packers road game. Why not make a mini vacation out of it all?

Looking to the 2012 Green Bay Packers Season

The Packers vs. Giants loss still stings a little bit, but not as bad as the Packers playoffs loss from 2008. At the beginning of the season, I was almost certain that I would be gearing up for another Packers Super Bowl around this time. Now that the Packers have been eliminated from the playoffs and Aaron Rodgers is gearing up to play in the Pro Bowl, it's time to look to the 2012 Green Bay Packers season. Here's what we can expect in the 2012 Green Bay Packers season:

Personnel changes. Offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has already accepted a head coaching position with the Miami Dolphins. We will probably be seeing more changes on the coaching staff as the off-season
progresses.
No more Matt Flynn. Flynn has proved this season that he can hold his own as a starting quarterback and quarterback-hungry teams will be looking to secure the free agent. Some sources are saying that he will follow Philbin to the Miami Dolphins.
Changes in the defensive line. There's been talking of putting Charles Woodson at permanent safety. There's also been talk of trading AJ Hawk.

All in all, the Packers had an exciting 2011 season, finishing with a 15-1 record. It was disappointing to see their Super Bowl dreams cut short, but the Pack will be back to dominate in 2012.

NFC Divisional Playoff Preview: Packers vs. Giants

Everyone can agree that this Sunday's Packers vs. Giants game will be a battle. The Giants are playing the best football that they've played all season long and are coming off a win vs. the Atlanta Falcons in the wild card round of the playoffs. Then you have the Green Bay Packers. They are well-rested, they have key players returning from injuries, and they have home field advantage. Not to mention that they've dominated all season long. The Packers defense will undoubtedly have to work hard, but I think the Packers offense will end up having more stamina than the Giants offense. Perhaps this game will be as close as the last game between the Packers and Giants on December 4th. That game, played at the Meadowlands, was a little too close for comfort as the Packers barely won 38-35. Sunday's game will be a nail biter, but I think the Packers will win. This is the playoffs at Lambeau Field! The Packers always play well under such conditions. While the Giants may be tough, the Packers are tougher. Remember how the Giants lost 7 regular season games? The Packers only lost one. I think we will be seeing an NFC Championship game at Lambeau Field next Sunday.

I'm all about making bold predictions, especially when it comes to the Packers playoffs. Go big or go home! Here are my 3 bold predictions for the Packers playoffs:

Packers vs. Giants in the divisional round at Lambeau Field. This weekend, the Lions play the Saints and the Giants play the Falcons. I see the Saints knocking out the Lions and the Giants knocking out the Falcons. The Giants are hungry for a playoff victory as they finally made this year after missing the chance last year. I see the Packers and the Giants having a rematch at Lambeau Field. I also see the Packers winning this game.
Packers vs. Saints NFC Championship. I see the Saints as the team to beat this year in the NFC. They are proving to be dangerous. Not only do I see them beating the Lions, but I also see them knocking out the number 2 seed San Francisco 49ers.
Packers vs. Patriots in Super Bowl 46. The Packers have home field advantage working in their favor throughout the playoffs. They have not lost a single game at home this year. I think home field advantage will help the Packers advance to the Super Bowl where I believe they will face the New England Patriots.

Packers vs. Lions Preview

After Sunday night's Packers vs. Bears game, the Packers have secured the number 1 seed in the NFC. Now that their playoff position is secured, should the Packers rest the starters during Sunday's Packers vs. Lions game? On the one hand, this is still a divisional game and a Packers win would make the Lions the number 6 seed in the NFC. On the other hand, the Packers do not want to risk injuring their starters before the playoffs even begin. Some say that this Sunday's Packers vs. Lions game will be more like preseason game for the Packers. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will likely play for a quarter and then we can expect to see some serious playing time from Packers back up quarterback Matt Flynn. The Detroit Lions are vying for a higher playoff seed so they have more at stake going into Sunday's game. For the first time in a long time, the Lions' final game of the season actually means something. We won't be seeing any rested Lions starters during this game. Another interesting fact is that the Detroit Lions have not won a game at Lambeau Field since 1991. Though the Packers have their playoff position locked in, I highly doubt that they would purposely throw this game. I like to think that the Packers will finish Sunday's game with a 15-1 overall record.

Sunday's Packers vs. Bears game is a must-win for the Green Bay Packers who are looking to secure home field advantage for the playoffs. The Packers, who boast the the best scoring offense in the league, have already defeated the Bears once this season. Since then, the Bears have been struggling to win in the absence of quarterback Jay Cutler. Quarterback Josh McCown might start against the Packers on instead of the other starting quarterback Caleb Hanie. Hanie has thrown 9 interceptions in the four games he's played since Cutler was injured. Sunday's Packers vs. Bears game seems like a lock-in win for the Packers, but after last Sunday's loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, nothing seems certain anymore. I hope some of the Packers wide receivers have worked out their kinks. As always the Packers defense needs to stop allowing so many yards. I like to stay positive, so I think the Packers will win on Sunday against the Bears.

2011 Green Bay Packers Playoffs: Go For Perfect Season or Rest Starters?

After defeating the Oakland Raiders yesterday 46-16, the Packers are just three wins away from a perfect season. A perfect Green Bay Packers season seems within reach, especially since the Packers have already defeated two of the remaining three teams. The question now is, should the Packers go for a perfect season or should they rest their starters to avoid injuries before the playoffs? Greg Jennings is already out for a few weeks after suffering a knee injury during yesterday's game. Thankfully, the Packers have enough depth that they should be alright in his absence, but what if Aaron Rodgers gets injured? Or Jordy Nelson? Or AJ Hawk? The Packers will also look to clinch home field for the playoffs by staying ahead of the 10-3 San Francisco 49ers and the best way to do that is to win. I think the Packers should go for a perfect season, but not at the expense of player health. The good thing about the Green Bay Packers is that they have depth, so I think it's possible for them to be undefeated and stay healthy heading into the playoffs.

Packers vs. Raiders Preview

Sunday's Packers vs. Raiders game marks the first time the two teams have met since 2007. That was so long ago that Aaron Rodgers was not even the starting quarterback. The Raiders are 7-5 and are still in the hunt for a playoffs spot. If the 12-0 Packers win Sunday's game, they will clinch a first round bye in the playoffs and become one step closer to an undefeated season. We might see more of a running game during Sunday's Packers vs. Raiders match up as the temperature will be low and it can be harder to through the ball. The Raiders are good at running the ball and the Packers defense will have to stop them! Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer is known to be turnover prone, so hopefully the Packers can get some interceptions! I think the Packers will come out of this game 13-0 and let's hope that they can hold off the Raiders! Go Pack Go!

Now that the Green Bay Packers are 11-0, Packers fans (and everyone else) are talking Packers playoffs. With the Packers two games ahead of the San Francisco 49ers, they are shaping up to be the #1 seed of the NFC. So when exactly will the Packers officially clinch their playoffs spot? The Packers playoffs could be determined as early as this Sunday! If the Packers beat the Giants this Sunday and the Detroit Lions lose to the New Orleans Saints, the Packers will clinch the NFC North. Wouldn't that be nice to know that in early December our Green Bay Packers have officially clinched their playoffs spot? So much better than having to wait until the end of the season. The big question in looking at the 2011 Green Bay Packers playoffs picture is will the Packers be able to keep their #1 spot in the NFC?

Packers vs. Buccaneers: A Trip to Lambeau Field

I had the pleasure of watching the Packers vs. Buccaneers game yesterday at Lambeau Field! I try to take a trip to Lambeau Field at least once a year and the Packers/Buccaneers game was the game that I chose. Thankfully, it was a dry day, but the weather was a brisk 32 degrees. That's Green Bay in November for you! This trip to Lambeau Field, I tried something different and sat in the outdoor club seats! The outdoor club seats are located around the stadium behind the 300 level. Basically, my seats were about 70 rows up from the field. I sat on the 10 yard line and the view was awesome. I didn't miss a single play. Now that I've sat at the club level, I never want to sit anywhere else. The

outdoor club seats have actual seats with seat backs, so you are not sitting on a bench. In addition, you also get access to all of the club amenities which includes more food and beverage options. Yesterday's game was a close one, a little too close for comfort at times, but our Packers were able to extend their winning streak to 10-0. And what about Mason Crosby's missed field goal? He hasn't missed a kick in a long time. The UW Marching Band also provided lots of entertainment throughout the game including a half time performance and their famous fifth quarter show. It was almost like being at a Packers and a Badgers game at the same time!

It's time to take a look at the Green Bay Packers 2011 playoffs picture. If the NFL season ended today, the Green Bay Packers would have the number one seed in the NFC, meaning they would have home field advantage for the entire playoffs run. Coming in a close second are the San Francisco 49ers, who have only lost one game this season. The Packers and the 49ers do not meet during the regular season and wouldn't meet until an NFC Championship game (if the two teams maintained their number one and two seeds respectively). However, the season does not end today so in order to secure their number one seed, the Packers need to just continue winning. Speaking of winning, I've seen several sports outlets posting this question: Which will happen first: the Packers lose or the Colts win? I bet the Colts will win as I don't foresee the Packers losing any time soon.

The Green Bay Packers are fresh off their bye week and ready to continue their quest for a perfect season. When the schedule first came out, I was a little nervous about this weekend's Packers vs. Chargers game. The San Diego Chargers are a good team and winning on the road is always tougher than winning at Lambeau. While the Chargers are 4-2, they have not lost at home yet this season. On the other hand, the Packers are undefeated and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is number one in the league. San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is not having the best of seasons. Rivers has a passer rating of 82.3, while Aaron Rodgers has a passer rating of 125.7. Rivers is also tied for third for the number of interceptions thrown this season with 9 interceptions. In comparison, Aaron Rodgers has only thrown 3 interceptions. Sunday's game should be a good one, but I like to think that the Packers will remain undefeated.

It's been awhile since I wrote my last blog post, but you'll have to forgive me as I have been quite busy watching the Green Bay Packers destroying their competition. As you know, our Green Bay Packers are the only undefeated team at this moment in the NFL, with a 6-0 record. With 10 games left in the regular season, the question remains: Will the Green Bay Packers have an undefeated 2012 season? The football world is abuzz with "perfect season" talk, but the Packers themselves are looking at it one week at a time. Their first goal is to make it to 7-0. Sunday, the Packers travel to Minnesota to take on the dismal-looking Minnesota Vikings. I'd say their toughest competition will come in Week 9 when they take on the San Diego Chargers at San Diego. If they can defeat them, they can defeat anyone. As far as the rest of the schedule, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handed the Packers a surprising defeat least year, so let's hope that doesn't happen again this year. I'm not really concerned about the Detroit Lions, even though it appeared that they were going to give the Packers a run for their money. I'd say, as long as the Packers can get past the San Diego Chargers, then they are on their way for a 16-0 season.

Packers Face Orton | Tebow Rides The Bench at Lambeau Field

The Denver Broncos have decided to stick with struggling quarterback Kyle Orton at Lambeau this weekend. Bad idea? Based on the stats I would say so, but you tell me.

This will be Orton's first meeting with the Packers in a Broncos uniform. He faced the Packers four times while he was with the Bears. In those games, we saw him put up his worst numbers against any team that he has played more than. He completed less than half of all attempts in the air and averaged a passer rating of 49.4. He threw only two touchdowns in those four games, and was intercepted three times.

In the Broncos 2-1 start this season, Kyle Orton has completed around sixty percent, but has only five touchdowns to show for it. The fourth quarter has been the most crucial time for the Broncos, considering all three of Denver's games have been decided by eight points or less. In the final fifteen minutes of all three games so far, his completions rate drops to just above fifty percent.

Admittedly, part of the reason for the lackluster numbers may be the absence of star receiver Eddie Royal who is out with a pulled groin, but most Denver fans aren't convinced. They want to see rookie Tim Tebow get his chance against Aaron Rodgers. Tebow didn't do so well in the short time he was handed the ball. All things considered I don't disagree with those crazy fans looking for the switch. Orton is a more seasoned ball player, no matter how badly he has performed in the first three games so far.

This Sunday, the Green Bay Packers travel to Carolina to take on the Carolina Panthers. It's been 6 years since the last time the Packers played at Carolina, back when The Man Whose Name We No Longer Mention was the Packers quarterback. Our Green Bay Packers are coming off an exciting win over the Saints and they look better than ever. While the Panthers lost last week, their rookie quarterback Cam Newton posted impressive numbers. In fact, his numbers were better than any quarterback ever in a first start. Speaking of quarterbacks, Rodgers had a great first game last week and was named NFC player of the week for his efforts. The Packers have their eye on Newton as they had a tough time keeping Saints quarterback Drew Brees during last week's game. Brees posted high numbers as well. While the Packers defense did struggle a bit against the Saints, they can still make plays when it matters most. Sunday's game will be the Panthers home opener, but our Packers have a history of success on the road. Remember last season? In spite of Newton's impressive game last week, the Panthers still came up short against the Cardinals. I have a feeling we'll see the same thing this Sunday. The Cardinals have a 3-4 defense just like the Packers, so the Panthers have had a chance to play a 3-4 team already this season. I'm sure Cam Newton will put up great numbers at home, but this is the Green Bay Packers we're talking about. They are hungry for another Super Bowl win.

The Lambeau Field expansion project is a go! It was just announced that the Lambeau Field expansion will carry on as planned. The best part? Taxpayers won't have to foot the bill! The project will be funded by the Green Bay Packers. It also might be funded by new stock options, which would give more people a chance to become partial owners of the Green Bay Packers, the NFL's only publicly owned team. Another highlight of the project is the fact that 6,600 more seats will be added to the stadium in the south endzone. People will actually come off the Green Bay Packers season ticket waiting list! Lambeau Field expansion will add seats to the south end zone in four levels. The new seats will be ready by the 2013 Packers season. What do you think of the Lambeau Field expansion plan?

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals Preview

Tomorrow night, the Green Bay Packers play their first preseason game at Lambeau Field. The Packers haven't played at Lambeau Field since the end of last season when they defeated the Chicago Bears to nab the 6th seed in the playoffs. Friday's Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals game will mark the return of Packers tight end Jermicheal Finley who hasn't played since Week 5 last year when he tore his ACL. The Cardinals went 5-11 last season and have worked to revamp their roster. They have a new starting quarterback, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb. While the preseason doesn't really count for much, it is a good chance for newly acquired players to showcase their skills. Tomorrow night's game will be fun to watch, but I'm looking forward to the Packers regular season home opener on September 8th.

The Green Bay Packers have said good-bye to linebacker Nick Barnett and offensive guard Daryn Colledge as part of recent personnel changes post-NFL lockout. The Packers are looking to trade Nick Barnett, but will release him if necessary. Daryn Colledge has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals. These personnel changes are all a part of Packers GM Ted Thompson's master plan. Word has it that the San Diego Chargers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are two teams that might snag Nick Barnett. We'll see what happens. In the mean time, Packers training camp is underway. Packers training camp started July 30th and the team's first presesaon game is August 13th at the Cleveland Browns.

Are you ready for some football? Today, the NFL lockout has ended. The 2011 Green Bay Packers season is back on! While I never doubted for a moment that there wouldn't be a 2011 Packers season, it's nice to know that it is officially back on. Now that the lockout has ended, it's time for you to get your Green Bay Packers tickets. I, for one, will be going to as many Packers games as my schedule and wallet will allow. I'm hoping to attend the home opener against the New Orleans Saints. It would be great to see two Super Bowl champions duke it out at Lambeau Field. I'd also like to go to as many games as I can in the warm weather. That means I'll probably go to the Packers/Broncos game on October 2nd and the Packers/Rams game on October 16th. I might even pop down to Chicago and catch the Packers at Soldier Field. The sky's the limit. All that matters is that the NFL lockout has ended!

NFL Lockout Should Be Resolved This Week

According to most news sources, the NFL lockout should be resolved this week. Players and NFL executives are meeting this week in a series of important labor talks that most likely will result in the end of the NFL lockout. This is an important week because the entire preseason can still be preserved if an agreement is reached. After this week, preseason games will have to be canceled. Neither the players nor the NFL really want to lose any money and that is what will happen if the NFL lockout does not end this week. So, I think that we can almost count on the 2011 Packers season starting on time. Brace yourselves, Packers fans, it's almost football season! Time to iron my Aaron Rodgers jersey and take my Packers paraphernalia from out of storage. It's also time to buy some Packers tickets.

It's getting to be about that time--time to take a look at the Packers schedule and figure out which games to attend. Ideally, I'd like to go on one Packers road trip, but we will see how that pans out. Since Chicago isn't that far away, it seems likely that the Packers vs. Bears game at Soldier Field during Week 3 would be a good game to go to. I could even take the train. Packers tickets can be more difficult to come by in Chicago, but where there's a will, there's a way. The season opener at Lambeau Field will a great game to catch because it features the Super Bowl champions of the last two years. With Brett Favre gone for good (we hope), the Packers vs. Vikings games won't be as exciting as they have been in previous years. The Denver Broncos pay a visit to Lambeau Field on October 2nd and I believe that will be a popular game for fans looking to make the trip to Green Bay. It is the second home game of the season, it will probably still be warm out, and it's been awhile since the Broncos have been to town. The Packers play the Bears again at the end of the season, on Christmas Day, and depending on how things pan out this year, that game could have serious playoffs implications. Word on the street is that the NFL lockout will be settled within the next week, so it's time to get your Packers tickets. The season will be here before you know it!

The Green Bay Packers got their Super Bowl rings finally! Typically, the Green Bay Packers would have already received their Super Bowl rings shortly after winning Super Bowl 45. However, this offseason has been anything but typical. The NFL lockout put a damper on all of the Green Bay Packers celebratory plans. Until last night, when the Green Bay Packers all received their rings in a special ring celebration in Green Bay. The NFL waived the no contact rule between players and coaches and allowed the whole team to get together to get their rings. Apparently, Packers player Mike Neal had the biggest ring size, 18.5. The Green Bay Packers Super Bowl rings look truly spectacular. Now, if only us Packers fans could get them, too. Maybe next year?

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Donald Driver Has Eyes on Pro Football Hall of Fame

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver has his eyes on the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now that he accomplished his goal of earning a Super Bowl ring, his next goal is to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Driver has had some very successful seasons in recent years, however this past season was his first season that he did not receive 1000 yards in a season. He had previously accomplished this task in the past 6 seasons. I think Donald Driver has had a very successful career and since he doesn't have any plans to retire in the near future, I think he can make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as long as he continues to play at a high level. Despite NFL Lockout, Green Bay Packers Will Get Super Bowl Rings

Despite the NFL lockout, the Green Bay Packers will get their Super Bowl rings on June 16th. Due to the NFL lockout, players are not allowed any contact with their coaches, but this rule will be lifted for one day so the Green Bay Packers can get their Super Bowl rings. The team has not been together since Super Bowl 46, so it will be a nice evening for all them (not to mention a little awkward). The Super Bowl champions will receive their rings in a private ceremony. It's interesting that the NFL is making an exception to the no contact rule. I don't like to read into things, but the NFL's willingness to bend the rules makes me think that perhaps they will be willing to negotiate an agreement with the players, thus officially ending the lockout.

The Green Bay Packers will retire Brett Favre's number in due time. "In due time" means whenever it can be officially determined that Brett Favre has retired from football for good and the wounds of his bitter departure have healed. While some Green Bay Packers will never forgive Brett Favre, others have never stopped admiring Favre. However, all Green Bay Packers fans can agree that Favre deserves credit for his time with the Packers. Retiring his number is the best way to honor the legendary accomplishments of Brett Favre. The Packers had originally planned to retire Favre's number during the home opener in 2008, but Favre started playing with the New York Jets. What do you think? Lambeau Field Expansion Slated for Post-2012 Super Bowl

Lambeau Field expansion is a go! Green Bay Packers officials say that expansion of Lambeau Field's south end zone will begin after next year's Super Bowl. Expansion will add up to 7500 more seats to the south end zone. That's great news for the next 7500 people on the Green Bay Packers season tickets waiting list. Money for the project hasn't completely been secured yet, but it appears that the Packers will fund most of the project on their won. They are exploring several different options. As for the types of seats that will be added, that is still under discussion. One option is to give current ticket holders the option of moving their seats to this new area, which will most likely include a combination of indoor and outdoor seating. Packers officials say the new seating will be unlike any other seating option in the NFL. This new south end zone seating area is being referred to as the "Wall of Fans" because it will rise up higher than the boxes around the stadium.

When looking at the schedule, you'll notice that three of the games have the phrase "gold package" next to them. You may have heard Green Bay Packers season ticket holders talk about either the "green package" or the gold package," but what exactly does that mean? I'm glad you asked.

Green Package vs. Gold Package

Up until 1994, the Green Bay Packers played three games a year at County Stadium in Milwaukee. The rest of their games were played at Lambeau Field. The games played at County Stadium were a part of the "gold package." Gold package season ticket holders had tickets to all of the games at County Stadium. All games played at Lambeau Field were a part of the "green package." Now that the Green Bay Packers only play at Lambeau Field, they have alotted 3 games a year to "gold package" season ticket holders. The rest of the games at Lambeau Field belong to the "green package." This year's "gold package" games include:

The Green Bay Packers 2011 season schedule has been announced! I was wrong about the Chicago Bears playing the Packers at Lambeau Field in the home opener, but that's okay. My other theory has been confirmed, the Green Bay Packers will host the New Orleans Saints on the first day of the regular season. There was speculation that the Packers were going to host the previous year's Super Bowl champs, but I like the idea of hosting the Chicago Bears. I think that game would draw in a record number of viewers. Last season's NFC Championship in Chicago was pretty epic and I know a lot of Bears fans are looking forward to a rematch. It was a close game, with the Packers leading the entire time. Okay, the did have an 18 point lead in the first half, but that didn't make me feel secure. Yes, there has never been a team in the Super Bowl to come back to win from 10 or more points down. That didn't make me feel like it was in the bag either. The Steelers tore my heart out in 2009, when that same quarterback threw a last play touchdown to take the game out from under us. He did the same thing two seasons back in the Super Bowl. Don't ever count that guy out.

I guess the same thing could be said for Aaron Rodgers. There were times when Rodgers and the Packers looked like they were toast. Every time that the team punted the ball back to the Steelers, I was sure that the game would go their way. An eleven point lead was shaved down to three in just over two minutes when the Steelers scored a touchdown and two-point conversion. Green Bay was looking at third and ten when Rodgers hit Jordy Nelson on a crossing route. He got within nine feet of scoring a touchdown, but we had to settle for a field goal.

Handing the ball back to "Big Ben" with over two minutes to play, was scary. They had burned two time outs in the second half, and I had a feeling that they would come to regret that. Could they get down the field, score, and kill the high hopes of Packers fans around the country? On a fourth down and five, we lost our minds. The pass was broken up, and all the Packers had to do was down the ball. The Lombardi Trophy is home folks. Green Bay Packers are Super Bowl Champs!

We are all aware of the fact that the only Green Bay Packers with Super Bowl experience are Ryan Pickett, and Charles Woodson. The Steelers on the other hand have a quarterback who has twice been to the summit, along with a huge cast of players that helped him get there before. Does it help to have been to this dance before? I guess you could ask the Buffalo Bills that question. They went to the Super Bowl four times in a row, and never went home with a ring.

It's nice to see all the hype surrounding the Green Bay Packers, but they still have to face a very tough, and well balanced Pittsburgh Steelers team this Sunday. They have to defend both the run and pass, as Pittsburgh is even better at both when compared to what the Packers faced at Atlanta. Rothlisberger is one of those quarterbacks that can change the outcome of the game with one play. Matt Ryan is more of a methodical player.

Let's not forget that Aaron Rodgers is just as mobile as Ben, perhaps even more so. The differences would include size. Ben is very hard to take down. Rodgers will fold at times. Having James Starks step up during this post season was just the ticket for Rodgers. The Steelers are great at defending the run. At least the Packers have a run game now. It should help to keep the Steelers defense honest. In answer to my own question, I think I would like to take the hot team, over the more experienced one. The Packers have played enough do or die games just to get here. They will certainly show up for this one.

It wasn't pretty, but the Green Bay Packers took care of business at Soldier Field. They took care of Jay Cutler. They took care of Todd Collins. Caleb Hanie helped the Bears score 14, but no more. The Packers sealed the deal with an interception by Sam Shields.

Has anyone heard of the "corner Okie" defense? Dom Capers pulled that one out of the old book for yesterday's game. It put Shields and one other cornerback on Johnny Knox and Devin Hester alone. Shields came up with a huge interception just before the half. That play kept the score 14-0, going into the locker room with the Bears about to receive the second half kick. Raji scored the game winning touchdown on a third and five from the Bear's 15. Raji had enough speed to get the ball over the goal line, but not much more.

The Packers face the Pittsburgh Steelers in two weeks. Friends and family are scrambling for Super Bowl XLV tickets. I can't blame them. If I had the cash, I would think about heading to Dallas myself.

Home field advantage means less when you are talking about Packers road games. There were thousands of fans at Atlanta, and you could hear the chants of "Go Pack Go" well before the game started. At the end of that game, the sea of red had turned green and gold. Chicago should prepare for a Packers contingent the likes of which they have never seen. Kickoff is set for 2pm this Sunday. Looking back at the Packers victory over the Eagles last night, I have to say that there were so many positives. I loved the long scoring drives by the Packers offense. The run game led by James Starks was a key part of those drives. It’s a lot easier to convert on third and two, or third and three. Starks gets my first gold star for breaking a 43 year old Packers record.

Aaron Rodgers threw passes to just about everyone last night. He made only one mistake, that fumble on a pump fake/tuck. When he was sacked late in the game on third down, he kept his hands on the ball, and that allowed Tim Masthay the chance to punt.

Who didn’t love that sack by Desmond Bishop on the first play of the game? Thanks to the wide-right field goal kick by David Akers, the screw up on the first punt of the game meant nothing for the Packers.

It was as if we were getting all the breaks this time. The biggest break came with 42 seconds left to play. Tramon Williams didn’t buy the lazy route that the Eagles wide receiver ran. He was in position to pull that pass down and end the game. The Packers head to snowy, icy Atlanta!

This Sunday, the Green Bay Packers host the New York Giants at Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers have two games left in the season (both home games) and if they want to make it to the play-offs, they need to win those two games. The Chicago Bears have already clinched the NFC North, so now the Green Bay Packers need to get a wild card spot. The New York Giants are 9-5, just one game behind in their division to the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams need to win this game to help their play-off chances, but obviously only one team can come out on top. Sunday's game also marks the first time that the two teams will meet since the 2007 NFC Championship game at Lambeau Field. We all know how that one ended and frankly, that loss still stings. I hope the Packers avenge this loss! The good news about Sunday's game is that Aaron Rodgers will be back! This week, I can add another accomplishment to Aaron Rodgers' long list of accomplishments--he was named NFC Player of the Week! Rodgers won because of the fact that he threw for 298 yards this week which gave him a season high passer rating of 135.1. Way to go, Aaron Rodgers! Rodgers has also been nominated for the Fed Ex Air Player of the Week for the same accomplishments. Fans have the opportunity to vote, so vote away Packer fans. Hooray for Aaron Rodgers!

12/12 at Detroit Lions-- This should also be an easy win, although the last meeting between the Green Bay Packers and the Lions was a lot closer than I excepted. The Detroit Lions have had some close games this year, but they are sitting on a 2-8 record going into this week.

12/19 at New England Patriots--Right now, the Patriots are 8-2 and are tied for first place in their division with the New York Jets. The Patriots lost to the Jets in their week 2 meeting. This should be a close game between the two teams, who haven't played since 2006 when the Patriots shut out the Packers 35-0. If the Green Bay Packers continue to play the way they played in Minnesota last weekend, I think this game should be much closer.

12/26 vs. New York Giants--The Giants are currently 6-4 and are coming off two straight losses. The Giants are second in their division by one game to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants defeated the Bears this season, but they also lost to the Cowboys and the Eagles--two teams that the Packers have defeated this season. I'd like to see the Green Bay Packers avenge their play-offs loss in this game.

1/2 vs. Chicago Bears-- Depending on how the Chicago Bears' record changes throughout the remainder of the season, this game could have serious play off implications for both teams. The Packers and Bears are currently tied and the Bears have a leg up since they defeated the Packers in their first meeting.

All I'm going to say is that the numbers speak for themselves. In their last meeting at Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings, but just barely. Since then, the Green Bay Packers have defeated the New York Jets on the road and the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field. The Packers are coming off a bye week and some exciting wins whereas the Minnesota Vikings just suffered a 27-13 loss to the Chicago Bears. Favre is battling some sort of injury or another, while Aaron Rodgers has had a week of rest. The Green Bay Packers need this win to stay tied in the lead for the NFC North.

Harris, who's been injured since last season, played for 7 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and started in all of the 102 games that he played. Harris played in the Pro Bowl in 2007 and 2008. In 2004, Harris set a Green Bay Packers record with most passes defensed in a single season with 28. Although Harris has been rehabbing his injury all season, I am sad to see him go. Harris was one of my all-time favorite Green Bay Packers players. He still has playing ability left in him and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to another NFC North team.

Green Bay Packers punter Tim Masthay was among three players to be named NFC Player of the Week for his performance against the New York Jets this past Sunday. Masthay, who had been struggling in previous weeks, made it so that the New York Jets did not have any punt return yardage. Masthay punted eight times, five of which landed inside the 20 yard. In his weekly press conference, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy showered Tim Masthay with praise for his performance. McCarthy was uncannily complimentary saying, "I can't tell you how happy I am for Tim. It makes me want to cry. I thought he was tremendous. ... I thought that was remarkable. He just needs to do it every week now and we'll be fine." McCarthy also said that it was the best punting performance he had seen in his life. Aaron Rodgers has slightly better numbers than Mark Sanchez, with the exception of interceptions. Rodgers has thrown over 4 times as many interceptions as Sanchez. Last year, Rodgers only threw a total of 7 interceptions for the entire season. It's interesting to compare the two quarterbacks' rushing stats. Rodgers' numbers reflect his mobility and ability to make downs at the last moment. Mark Sanchez could be just as mobile, but he has the comfort of a strong line which is reflected in the number of times he has been sacked. We will see what happens on Sunday!

I'm sick of watching the Green Bay Packers lose to teams in overtime thanks to a field goal. It happened again this Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Although the Green Bay Packers won the coin toss, they were unable to score and eventually the Washington Redskins gained possession and eventually kicked the game-winning field goal. Last season, after the Super Bowl, the NFL changed the rules for overtime in the playoffs. In the playoffs, it was decided that each team would get one possession during the extra period unless the team that wins the coin toss scores on the opening drive. The point of this rule is to make the outcome of the coin toss less important. As you might remember from last season's playoffs, the Minnesota Vikings lost the NFC Championship game after the New Orleans Saints scored the game winning field goal. Had the new rule been in place, the outcome of that game might have been different.

I say that the NFL should extend this rule to overtime in the regular season. I cannot stand the fact that whichever team wins the coin toss has a better chance of winning the game. I do not like the outcome of a game depending on chance. Football is the only sport that has such a ridiculous overtime rule. Both soccer and basketball have specific amounts of time allotted for overtime and teams can score as many points as they possible can. They stop play when the clock runs out; not when the first team scores. Even in baseball, when games go into extra innings, both teams have a chance to score. Football should follow suit and eliminate this silly standard of practice in overtime play.

The Green Bay Packers hosted NFC North rival the Detroit Lions this past Sunday at Lambeau Field an managed to come out with a 28-26 win. After a stellar first half, the Green Bay Packers had a rough second half, barely squeezing past the Detroit Lions for the win. Rookie safety Morgan Burnett suffered a season ending injury during the game, tearing his ACL. It is not clear when exactly Burnett suffered this injury, but he continued to play a few snaps after tearing his ACL. That sounds painful. On the bright side, a win is still a win and the Green Bay Packers are tied with the Chicago Bears as leaders in the NFC North. The Minnesota Vikings had a bye-week and acquired New England Patriot Randy Moss today. It will be interesting to see what effect that has on Minnesota's record. This Sunday, the Green Bay Packers travel to Washington DC to play the Washington Redskins, another NFC contender. Hopefully, the Green Bay Packers will have a better showing than their game against the Detroit Lions.

Five Tips for Surviving Your First Game at Lambeau Field

Every die hard Green Bay Packer fan dreams about the day they attend Lambeau Field for a Green Bay Packers game. When that day finally comes, here are five tips for how to survive a first trip to Lambeau Field:

1) Don't expect to park in the Lambeau Field Parking Lot if you haven't made prior arrangements.

Lambeau Field is not Miller Park in that you cannot roll up on the day of the game and simply pay for parking in the parking lot. The Lambeau Field parking lots are reserved for season ticket holders, so if you have not secured a parking pass in advance, you will not to be able to pay on the day of the game. Thankfully, there are a variety of parking options available across the street from Lambeau Field on South Oneida street. It is conveniently located (you are within spitting distance) and a lot cheaper. Don't worry, you can still tailgate.

2) Get there early.
If you've never been to Lambeau Field before, you are going to want to get there early so that you can take in the full experience. Everybody tailgates before the game including all of the local bars. If you don't feel like bringing your full grill set to the game, don't worry! The local bars have great spreads, including live music, beer, and food that you can purchase outside. Kroll's is one such place I like to have a few pregame beers when I don't want to grill by my car.

3) Be kind to your fellow seatmates.
Once you are inside the gates, you are going to be mesmerized by the sight of Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers fans, and the players themselves. Take it all in! However, remember that you might be sitting among people who have been season ticket holders long before you were born. Just be mindful of your neighbors when you stand up to cheer and wave your pom poms. Also, if you are sitting in the middle of the row, make sure you stand up to refill your beer at an opportune time. 4th and goal is probably not the best time to stand up and grab another beer.

4) Avoid post-game traffic, by sticking around Green Bay.
When the game ends, it's better to stick around Green Bay for an hour or two instead of rushing to be the first car back on the highway. Chances are, you will hit post-game traffic regardless, so you might as well grab a bite to eat after the game. Or, you can hit up the local bar scene as many bars have post-game events with live music. When you finally leave Green Bay, make sure you get on the RIGHT highway. I have a bad habit of getting on Highway 41 instead of I-43.

5) Come again.
Watching the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field is such an incredible experience that you will not want to do it just one time. Come to the next game! I can promise you that the first time you visit Lambeau Field will certainly not be your last.

Green Bay Packers Running Back Ryan Grant Out for the Season

Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant will be out for the rest of the season after suffering leg and ankle injuries during the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Towards the end of the second half, Ryan Grant found himself at the bottom of a huddle after which he limped off the field. This is disappointing news as Ryan Grant was expected to have an outstanding season. In the past two seasons, Ryan Grant rushed for over 1200 yards per season and it was thought he could accomplish even more this season. The big question now is who will fill in Ryan Grant's shoes? Probably Brandon Jackson as he filled in for Ryan Grant during Sunday's game. Hopefully, Ryan Grant's absence will not have too much of a negative effect on the Green Bay Packers' success this season. We will see what happens this Sunday when the Green Bay Packers host the Buffalo Bills in the first home game of the season.

Green Bay Packers punt returner Jason Chery is not quite Desmond Howard, but after his 75 yard touchdown during the Indianapolis game, we will be seeing a little more of him in the game. The best part is, Jason Chery had to beg special teams coach Shawn Slocum to let him return one punt during the game. After his impressive showing (he even did a Lambeau Leap), Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy will have Jason Chery take care of all punts and kickoffs during Thursday's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City. We'll see what happens after that! I love these kinds of stories. Chery's success reminds me a little bit of fellow Green Bay Packer Frank Zombo's story. I hope that Jason Chery has an excellent showing in Kansas City and continues making kick returns well into the regular Green Bay Packers season.

On paper, undrafted free agent Frank Zombo seems like an unlikely contributor to the Green Bay Packers 2010 season. However, Zombo's recent performance in practice and the first two Green Bay Packers preseason games will tell you otherwise. I love stories like undrafted free agent Frank Zombo's because they are perfect examples of what can happen when you keep your eye on the prize and refuse to give up. Keeping an eye on the prize is exactly what the Green Bay Packers have done for decades.

Due to a sprained ankle, Frank Zombo was not expected to play in the first preseason game. When you're already at the bottom of the pecking order, the last thing you want to do is miss practice and playing time. Zombo did not want to miss out on playing time, so he simply taped up his ankle as tight as possible and was cleared for the Green Bay Packers preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns. Due to other team injuries, Zombo was able to play at linebacker and show his stuff. He followed up that performance with stellar practices, a great showing against the Seattle Seahawks, and is working with first teams defense. We might even see Frank Zombo start against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field. I really hope the best for Frank Zombo and here's hoping we will see him in the future! Go Pack Go!

This powerful Green Bay Packers defensive end, has the support of Ted Thompson, but just in case, Thompson used a high draft pick to fill the slot. Mike Neal and CJ Wilson were Combine standouts.

This just in, Brett Favre retires yet again. I had a feeling that the ankle would be the deciding factor, and that's what he touched upon when announcing that he was not coming back. I won't count on Favre sitting out 2010. He will have that miracle cure, right after training camp. The Vikings fans and team will keep the door open, for a while.

This year, the Green Bay Packers will host Minnesota FIRST! I cannot wait to see them beat the pants off of Brett Favre and his Minnesota Vikings (come on, we all know he is coming back). The Green Bay Packers must avenge their losses from last year!

Week 3: Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football

I love it when the Green Bay Packers play Monday Night Football and I love it when they play their historic rivals, the Chicago Bears. I can't wait to see the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears on their turf under the lights of Monday Night Football. Soldier Field is a stone's throw from Milwaukee so I just might grab some tickets to this game. Last year, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears in all of their meetings. This year will be no different.

Week 9: Green Bay Packers Host the Dallas Cowboys

Last year, the Green Bay Packers destroyed the Dallas Cowboys when they played at Lambeau Field. It seems that both the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers are always serious contenders for the NFC Championship game. I like it when the Dallas Cowboys come to Green Bay because they are not used to such frigid temperatures. They seem out of place. The Green Bay Packers host the Dallas Cowboys just before their bye week. I can't think of a better way to enter a bye week than a serious win against the Dallas Cowboys.

Playing New England in New England

Christmas will come early this year when the Green Bay Packers play the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on December 19th. Aaron Rodgers recently said that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the best NFL quarterback. We will see about that. It's been awhile since the Packers have met the Patriots. In fact, Aaron Rodgers has never been quarterback against the New England Patriots. Two years ago, the New England Patriots had a perfect season minus their Super Bowl loss. Are the Patriots still on that level, or have the seen better days? If the Patriots are up to snuff, this could be a foreshadow of the 2011 Super Bowl.

Green Bay Packers Will Wear Throwback Jerseys During December 5th Game

The Green Bay Packers will showcase their throwback jerseys during the December 5th game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field. A Green Bay Packers rep said the team decided to pick a colder date to wear the new jerseys to make sure they were not uncomfortable. This alternate jersey is the third official jersey worn by the Green Bay Packers and they have the option of using it at home games for the next five years. The throwback jersey resembles the jersey that the Green Bay Packers wore in their first seasons as a team. I think I just might have to get Green Bay Packers tickets so that I can see what the throwback jerseys look like up close and personal. It'll be weird to see the Packers stray away from the usual green and gold.

First Packers 2010 Preseason Game In Three Weeks

August 14, 2010, I'll be at Lambeau Field for the first Packers preseason game of the year. It will be Packers VS Browns on what is sure to be a hot Saturday evening. Those cold December days to come will feel so far away. Rest assured, they will come. Hopefully by that time in the season, our Packers will have locked in a playoff spot.

Family Night comes first. That's on August 7, 2010. The final preseason Lambeau Field game is on August 26. The Packers take on the Colts that night. I'm still soaking up the summer sun, but I never stop thinking Green and Gold.

In a last minute decision, both the Green Bay Packers Defensive Linebacker Johnny Jolly and Cornerback Tramon Williams signed their tenders just before the Green Bay Packers' official deadline. Had they not signed their tenders, the two restricted free agents would have had to settle for a lower salary. I'm glad everything worked out!

Speaking of Johnny Jolly, you probably have heard his name floating around the news lately. Johnny Jolly faces drug charges in Texas and although his case was delayed again, a new witness in the trial was named; a convicted felon who is currently serving jail time on drug charges. Jolly had been arrested in 2008 for being caught with 200 grams of codeine. If Jolly is convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison. I do not like the thought of a Green Bay Packers linebacker facing prison time. However, I've heard that since Jolly is a first time offender, he could get probation. It's disappointing to learn this information about Johnny Jolly. I remember seeing him at the Bradley Center at a Milwaukee Bucks game this past season and thinking about how nice it was for him to show his support for another Wisconsin sports team, especially since he is a Texas native.

Super Bowl 2015 should be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. Why 2015? Because Super Bowl sites are determined four years in advance and Super Bowl 2015 will have to be hosted by an NFC team. I say forget about warm, exotic locales and bring the Super Bowl to Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers have a rich history as far as the Super Bowl is concerned and Lambeau Field should have a chance to host the Super Bowl. The Green Bay Packers won the first ever NFL championship game and the most coveted prize in football, the Lombardi trophy, is named after the greatest football coach in history; the Green Bay Packers' legendary coach, Vince Lombardi.

I know what you're thinking; this is a ludicrous idea. However, I think it's about time Lambeau Field hosts such an event such as the Super Bowl. Lambeau Field is one of the most historic places in all of American sports, thus it deserves to host an important game. Who cares about the fact that the average temperature in Green Bay in February? Reals fans would not let a little cold weather get in the way of purchasing their Lambeau Field Super Bowl tickets.

The Green Bay Packers are set to host two focus groups in Milwaukee and Green Bay to discuss possible plans for expanding Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers have held focus groups like these ones for many years and it just so happens that this year's topic will be about Lambeau Field expansion. Nothing is set in stone, but it will be interesting to see what comes out of these focus groups.

Currently, Lambeau Field holds 72,928 people. The Green Bay Packers season ticket holder waiting list is about 81,000 people long. If Lambeau Field expands its seating capacity, perhaps people on the list could actually get some Green Bay Packers tickets! In 2008, the Green Bay Packers tabled a $25 million expansion plan that would've added more underground parking and expanded the area around the Lambeau Field Atrium. The most recent expansion of Lambeau Field occurred in 2001-2003, when the Green Bay Packers added 12,032 seats, the atrium, the Pro Shop, and more food and entertainment options.

Sports Illustrated writer Peter King has released 2010 NFL power rankings. Number one on his list? Our Green Bay Packers! The San Diego Chargers were ranked number two, the Baltimore Ravens were ranked number three, and the Indianapolis Colts were ranked number four. No other team in the NFC North made the top 10.

While I tend to agree with King's rankings (who doesn't love the Green Bay Packers?!), last year he ranked the New England Patriots number one and the Chicago Bears number two. Last year's Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints, were ranked number 24. Obviously these rankings are just one man's opinions, so we will just have to wait and see what the 2010 Green Bay Packers season brings us!

It's about that time. You know, the time when we start planning ahead to the Green Bay Packers 2010 season and figure out who's bringing the bratwursts, who's bringing the chips and dip, who's bringing the cooler to the first game of the season. Time to buy your Green Bay Packers tickets at Lambeau Field and time to figure out which Green Bay Packers road game you will attend. Philadelphia? New England? San Diego? All of the above? Even though it's May, it's never too early to start anticipating the Green Bay Packers 2010 season. With that in mind, here are five things I can't wait for this upcoming season:

5) Tailgating at Lambeau Field. We Green Bay Packers fans are spoiled because we have the best tailgating facilities in the world. It does not get any better than Green Bay. Rain or shine, snow or sleet, Green Bay Packers fans know how to party. Bring on the green and gold!

4) Defeating the Minnesota Vikings once and for all. With or without Brett Favre (and it feels nice not to care about the retirement drama for a change), it is about time the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings! I feel like the 2010 season is our year to show those Vikings who is boss!

3) NFC Championship Game. At Lambeau. Green Bay Packers versus _______. I can see it now. Obviously the Green Bay Packers will come out victorious.

2) Aaron Rodgers. Each season, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has broken records and thrown for a billion yards. This 2010 season will be Aaron Rodgers' 3rd season as quarterback and with the kinks from last season worked out (*cough* no more sacks *cough*), I think we will see a mind-blowing season from Aaron Rodgers.

1) Super Bowl 2011. This is the year the Green Bay Packers will go all the way. See you in Texas. Better reserve your hotel room now.

Even though Green Bay Packers season is still three months away, I better take my Packers gear out of storage and do some laundry. August will come sooner than you think!

Green Bay Packers' Greg Jennings Earns College Diploma , Appears on TV

The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver Greg Jennings has had a busy off-season. While most players spend their time staying in shape and traveling, wide receiver Greg Jennings added college degree and TV guest appearance to his list of accomplishments. This past weekend, Jennings received his bachelor of arts in communications from Western Michigan University. After being drafted in 2006, Greg Jennings left Western Michigan University with sixteen credits left. He took self-taught courses in order to finish his degree. This week, Jennings will appear in an episode of Criminal Minds as a lab-tech. Don't expect to see him for more than thirty seconds, though!

Stories like these make me love Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings even more. First of all, I love seeing athletes flex their acting muscles. Secondly, the fact that Jennings took a statistics and a finance class among other courses to finish his degree makes me respect him even more! I love a guy who will go to great lengths to accomplish his goals. Yeah, he doesn't need a degree thanks to his cushy job in the NFL, but it was something he had always promised himself he'd get and then he did. Way to go, Greg Jennings! Can't wait to see what you will do during 2010 Green Bay Packers season!

A Look At the 2010 Green Bay Packers Draft

The star of the Green Bay Packers 2010 draft was the 21 year-old offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga from the University of Iowa. Bulaga was among the top four offensive tackles in this year's draft class and only allowed two sacks in his most recent season. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked 50 times last season. Looks like Bulaga will be a much needed addition to Green Bay Packers offensive line.

Here's a look at the other players Green Bay drafted in the recent 2010 draft:

Michael Neal, defensive lineman from Purdue (2nd round). Neal would be a defensive end for the Packers.
Morgan Burnett, safety from Georgia Tech (3rd round). The Green Bay Packers traded up with Philadelphia to get Burnett. The 20 year old could give Atari Bigby a run for his money for the starting position.
Marshall Newhouse, offensive lineman from Texas Christian University (5th round). The Green Bay Packers would put him at either tackle or guard.

James Stark, running back from Buffalo (6th round). Stark missed his 2009 season due to shoulder surgery
C.J. Wilson, defensive end from East Carolina (7th round). Wilson is fired up about playing football with the Green Bay Packers.

Now that the schedule is out, I am even more exciting for the 2010 season. I'm definitely going to get tickets for the first Packers home game at Lambeau Field, too bad I have to wait until week 2. I was really hoping for a Thanksgiving Day game in the 2010 Green Bay Packers schedule, but I guess I will have to wait until next year. Also this year, I hope the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings. The odds look better because the first match-up against the Vikings is at Lambeau Field. Home field advantage, anyone? What will happen in the Green Bay Packers 2010 NFL Draft? In his pre-draft press conference, Packers owner Ted Thompson unveiled his strategy for picking players: "We'll do anything, including trading up, if something is of value and it helps the Packers." After watching the painfully high number of times Aaron Rodgers was sacked last season, we all know that the Green Bay Packers need to improve their offensive line. With a 23rd pick in the first round of the draft, who will be the answer to the Green Bay Packers' call for an improved offensive? Will it be Maryland's Offensive Tackle Bruce Campbell? It'll be interesting to see what sorts of players the Packers will go after. Ted Thompson also revealed that he won't be targeting specific positions: "We're hoping we get players that can help our team. If you get caught up in trying to reach for need at all, that's when you make mistakes." Interesting. Whatever happens, I hope that we add some players to our squad that can sack Brett Favre a couple times the next time the Green Bay Packers face the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay Packer Tickets | Gold vs. Green Packages

As we excitedly await the upcoming 2010 Green Bay Packers regular schedule announcement, it’s probably a good time to refresh our memories on the difference between the gold package games and the green package games.

If you think back to the days when the Green Bay Packers played at the old Milwaukee County Stadium, you’ll remember that there used to be two different sets of Green Bay Packers ticket holders. There were the County Stadium ticket holders and the Lambeau Field ticket holders. Now that the Packers are permanently located at Lambeau Field, the Packers had to find a way to honor both sets of season ticket holders, thus the gold package games and the green package games were born. Games deemed gold package games are for Milwaukee season ticket holders, green package games are for Green Bay ticket holders. Gold package ticket holders are granted two regular season games and two preason games. It can become tricky if the gold package game falls on a Monday night because everyone has to make it back to Milwaukee from Green Bay after the game.

Phew! I think I've finally remembered the difference between the gold and green packages. Now if only the Green Bay Packers schedule was out already.

Packers New Punter Chris Bryan | Will Green Bay Draft Another Potential Punter?

The Green Bay Packers have a new punter. Chris Bryan played Austrilian football in the past few seasons. Bryan is known for his ability to keep punts in the air for just over 4.5 seconds. He claims that his consistancy on 50 yard punts is a given. Anything would be better than what we witnessed last season.

I know it's not about just doing better in the punting department. When the season was over, the Packers ranked dead last in distance. Bryan is reported to be over 6'2" and 210lbs. Let's hope that he puts that weight behind his punts. Scouts put Bryan in the "medocre" category. This is one horrible year to be looking for a punter.

Aaron Kampman No Longer A Green Bay Packer

Aaron Kampman did not fit in the 3-4 defense. He was peeved to be moved to outside linebacker. He was mute during training camp 2009. He had nothing to say during the regular season. Blowing out his knee late in the season further silenced the two time pro bowl end. Aaron is a three point stance player, and he couldn't get the speed he needed to be the pro bowl end. He's moved on to Jacksonville.

Kampman broke his silence after signing a 26 million dollar contract with Jacksonville. He says his knee feels great. He said he will be ready for training camp. He said that his knee was limp free in one week. He said a bunch more stuff, but none of it matters. Kampman is gone. I guess it's classy, not saying you are unhappy as an outside linebacker. I guess it's classy to just be quiet and do your job. The thing is that Green Bay did just fine without him. Packers playoff tickets did get printed, albeit on the road at Arizona.

It's not a rip on the guy, but it is just easy to say that the Packers didn't need him. Had Kampman been silent and sacked the quarterback, then Green Bay would have made him a nice offer.

It was announced today that Jeremy Kapinos was released from the Green Bay Packers. He was a bit surprised that he would not get the chance to at least compete for his job. I'm more surprised, that he is surprised! He ranked last in the league for punters booting over fifty times in a season. Next stop, Oakland?

Lambeau Field Honors Vietnam War Veterans

Lambeau Field is set to honor those among us who were Vietnam war veterans. It's called Landing Zone Lambeau, and it is meant to honor those men who came from Wisconsin to fight in a foreign land so far away.

It's sort of a "welcome home" to the men. The event starts on May 20, and runs for four days. The event features live music, the "Moving Wall" memorial, exhibits, and more. On the first night, the Moving Wall will be available for viewing, starting at 4pm. On May 21, there will be a motorcycle rally, live broadcast on WPR, and more.

The official "Welcome Home" ceremony starts at 7:30pm at Lambeau Field on May 22. There will be lectures and live music leading up to that ceremony. On the closing day, the Ecumenical Service starts at 11am.

Damage Control Necessary For Lousy Kicker Mason Crosby

The football season has come to a close and now that the players have had time to recoup, its time for the teams to reevaluate. One major reevaluation the Green Bay Packers need to make is in regards to Mason Crosby – stay or go? Taking a look at the 2009-10 Packers season, it is heavily marked with many misses and muffed snaps, most of which came from kicker Mason Crosby. Out of his 36 field goals attempted, he made a mere 27. After a disappointed 75% on the year, the Packers are left with unstable special teams plans and apprehension in the kicking department heading into 2010. With no immediate kicker replacement its unsure what the Packers will do about the problem named Mason Crosby but there is one thing I know for sure - if they don’t get rid of Mason Crosby, it looks like I’m getting rid of my Lambeau Field tickets for the 2010-11 Season.

Watch out defending Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints! Here come the 2010 Green Bay Packers and they are favored to be serious Super Bowl contenders in 2010! Odds makers have already picked the Green Bay Packers to go all the way in 2010 and even win the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers had a stellar season, becoming the only new quarterback to throw for over 4000 yards in his first two seasons as starter. He can only get better! In fantasy ratings, Rodgers was the highest scoring quarterback. Can’t argue with those stats! On a side note, Packers tickets have gone up in price a bit. Face value for tickets will be 15% higher than last season.

We have one more Green Bay Packers "Spirit Day" in our office. We were hoping for a Super Bowl party, but that didn't happen this year. Packers fans had a lot to be happy about in 2009. Rodgers showed stamina as he got sacked over and over again. The offensive line went back to basics, and that helped the team so win six in a row.

The Green Bay Packers playoffs were once again a reality! It was a high-flying game down in Arizona. The final score brought us to tears. Favre went a bit further than the Packers did. One Vikings Playoff win was all they had to cheer about.

So we will wear our green and gold one more time. We will eat unhealthy food in the name of the best team in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay Packers Clay Matthews, His Next Stop is the Pro Bowl Miami

Sad to say that the Packers are not in the Super Bowl. There, I said it. I'm bummed that they didn't pull of the wild card win. I'm bummed that there wasn't a Favre VS Rodgers match up one more time this year. I'm bummed that I won't get back to Lambeau Field until next August, unless I drive over there to hang out in the atrium.

Clay Matthews tweets about his time at the Pro Bowl. He's having a great time, from what I read. Nick Collins and Aaron Rodgers join Matthews in the fun and the sun. Game time for the Pro Bowl is 6:20 Green Bay time. I may have to watch a bit of it, just to get my last Packers fix.

Green Bay Packers' Personnel Star to Become Seattle Seahawk's GM

The Seattle Seahawks have snatched away the Packers' leading personnel analyst and director of football operations, John Schneider. Schneider will assume the position of General Manager for the Seattle Seahawks. A Wisconsin native, Schneider was considered one of the strongest voices in the personnel department. In addition, Schneider was a close confidant of Packers Coach Mike McCarthy. So close, in fact, that he introduced McCarthy to the woman he married.

Schneider began his run with the Green Bay Packers as a summer intern in 1992. After his internship, Schneider became the Green Bay Packers' pro personnel assistant. Schneider worked with the Packers until 1996, and then went on to work for other organizations in the NFL. Schneider returned to the Packers in 2002 where he played a major role in the team’s long term planning including visiting colleges and participating in the draft. It was Schneider who urged Ted Thompson to hire McCarthy in the first place. The Packers promoted Schneider to be the director of football operations in 2008.

Regardless, the Packers give Schneider their well wishes for a successful future with the Seattle Seahawks.

NFL Pro Bowl Miami for Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers

Despite the heartbreaking loss to the Arizona Cardinals in playoff overtime, Aaron Rodgers has established himself as a franchise quarterback. Rodgers had an impressive second season as starter and proved that the Green Bay Packers have embarked on an exciting new chapter. Although the Packers playoff game did not end the way we had hoped, Rodgers has much to be proud of this season. In his first two years as a starter, Rodgers became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards. He finished the season with 4434 passing yards, ranking him 4th overall among NFL quarterbacks. This mark was the second highest in Packers history, just behind Lynn Dickey’s all time single season record. Rodgers finished with a 103.2 quarterback rating, the 4th highest among NFL quarterbacks. In addition, Rodgers threw 30 touchdown passes (also the 4th highest among NFL quarterbacks) and had only 7 interceptions. Not to drag out the Brett Favre/Rodgers comparisons, but Favre also had only 7 interceptions (however his season is not over, so that number could rise). Rodgers ended the season for the most sacks at 50, tied with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Rodgers also posted 316 rushing yards, making him the second in the league for rushing yards (among quarterbacks). He led quarterbacks with the most rushing touchdowns having scored five. Rodgers was named Offensive Player of the Month in October and earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl. Rodgers has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments in his first two seasons; who knows what will happen next year?! I can’t wait to find out. Green Bay Packers Wild Card Game Ends In Fumble

I must admit that I thought our Green Bay Packers wild card game would end with the Packers kicking a field goal in overtime. When Aaron Rodgers tossed that pass just out of reach of Greg Jennings, I thought it was no problem for the best third down quarterback in the NFL.

I guess I was just as blindsided by the Cardinals cornerback that Rodgers was. Fumble, scoop, run, game over, Packers season over. Heck, I wrote the game off as a loss when the Packers were down by 21 points. Nobody comes back from 21 down. I was proven right I guess. Oh well.

The season was so much better than 2008. Aaron Rodgers is a Pro Bowl quarterback. The team was exciting to watch. The 3-4 defense improved the team. Our patchwork offensive line gave up too many sacks, but the Packers still went to the playoffs.

If I were Aaron Rodgers, I would be a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. The road to the Super Bowl is probably going to go through Minnesota or New Orleans. There is one shot that the NFC Championship will be at Lambeau Field. Philadelphia and Green Bay Packers must win, and win, and win.

Of course, we are getting way ahead of things by even talking about a NFC Championship, before winning the NFC North Wild Card game. I can dream. The Packers fly to Arizona today. The snow and wind are truly making it a Frozen Tundra, but in Arizona, the grass is warm in the desert sun.

There is no happier place on earth than Green Bay, Wisconsin after a win at Lambeau Field. Sunday’s game against Seattle really was a true testament to that fact. I don’t think I’ve seen Mike McCarthy smile that much in my life. After destroying the Seattle Seahawks 48-10, the Packers have solidified their playoff spot. Currently, the Packers have the number 5 seed, which is the highest possible seed they can acquire. If the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Dallas Cowboys this week, they will clinch their division, giving the Cowboys the number 6 seed, thanks to Green Bay’s win over them in the regular season. If the Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles, they will clinch their division and the Packers will move to the number six seed because of the Eagles better regular season record.

In terms of Green Bay Packers 2010 playoffs, the two highest seeds will have a first round bye. The number 3 seed will play the number 6 seed and the number 4 seed will play the number 5 seed. As it stands right now, the Vikings would not have a first round bye and they would face the Cowboys in the wild card round. The Packers would play Arizona again. If the Vikings keep up their losing streak, there is a good chance they could play the Packers in the first round of the playoffs. In order for this to happen, the Packers would have to lose against Arizona, the Vikings would have to lose against the Giants, and the Eagles would have to defeat the Cowboys. I don’t want my Packers to lose, but I would love to see them go head to head with the Vikings and dash their Super Bowl dreams in the playoffs.

I know I haven’t been very good this year, but I did help more around the house like I had promised. I’m hoping you can help me make my only Christmas wish come true. It might be a long shot, but I believe in you.

All I want for Christmas this year is a Green Bay Packers trip to the Super Bowl. Now, I know what you’re thinking, Santa, the Packers are only 9 and 5, they haven’t been able to beat the Minnesota Vikings in their two meetings, their offense has been all over the place, Aaron Rodgers was coming close to breaking the all time sack record, the defense could not even rush the passer, they lost to a winless team, most teams don’t make it to the playoffs without ten wins, Mason Crosby has been missing game winning kicks, blah blah blah. But you know what; I don’t really care about all that, Santa! I believe in Christmas miracles and the Packers making it to the Super Bowl would truly be a Christmas miracle.

Forget the odds. In the words of Celtics basketball player Kevin Garnett after winning the 2008 NBA Championships, “Anything is possible!” You never know what the Packers are capable of doing. Deanna Favre said it best in the title of her memoir, “Don’t bet against me!” So Santa, please don’t bet against my Packers and bring them to the Super Bowl!

I watched the end of the Green Bay Packers game in horror. The last second loss was so hard to take. I would say that it hurt to watch that end as much as it hurt to watch Favre throw the NFC Championship interception against the Giants.

The Green Bay Packers 2009 Playoff chances are still good. It hurt to know that we could have been closer to the NFC North division championship, if we had stopped the Steelers drive. That's because Brett Favre is starting his December melt down. He kissed the ground four times yesterday, and the Vikings only scored six points. Now we are big time Redskins fans.

On December 27th, the Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks for their last home game of the season. The two teams last met during the 2008 regular season in Seattle where the Packers defeated the Seahawks 27-17. The last time the Seahawks visited Lambeau field was in the first round of the 2007 NFC playoffs. During a snowstorm, the Packers squashed the Seahawks 42-20. It didn’t look so great for the Packers during the first quarter when the Seahawks took the lead by scoring two touchdowns. However, the Packers secured an impressive comeback by scoring two touchdowns themselves. Then, in the second quarter, the Packers pulled ahead with two more touchdowns and the Seahawks were unable to catch up. For the rest of the game, the Seahawks only kicked field goals, allowing the Packers to score two more times

Speaking of the Seahawks, former coach Mike Holmgren has expressed interest in returning to the NFL as the Seahawk’s General Manager. In addition, Holmgren has met with the Cleveland Browns to discuss the possibility of becoming their head of operations. Holmgren's plans have not been finalized, but it seems pretty likely he will be back with the NFL come next season. What do you think?

The Green Bay Packers have four more games in the regular season. Will they have what it takes to go to the NFL playoffs? First, they must win at Chicago. They then face a downtrodden Pittsburgh Steelers team who just lost to the Raiders. From there they come home to play the Seattle Seahawks. Rumor has it that Mike Holmgren will be back next year to coach the Seahawks.

One of the biggest games on the schedule is the Packers VS Cardinals game on the road in Arizona. If Arizona has the division title locked up, they may rest some of their key players. That would give a break to the Green Bay Packers if they need that win to get to the playoffs.

We may be getting ahead of things by discussing the last game of the season. If the New York Giants get ahead of the Packers in the wild card race, it may not matter what the outcome of the game is at the end of the season.

On December 7^th, the Packers will host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Currently, the Ravens are 6-5. The Packers have not met the Baltimore Ravens since the 2005 season when the Packers traveled to Baltimore for a Monday night game in December. During this game, the Ravens destroyed the Packers 48-3 with the Packers scoring just one field goal in the first quarter. That was also the season, if you didn’t black it out already, that the Packers went 4-12.

After beating their last three opponents, I feel like the Packers can do anything including defeating the Baltimore Ravens. Already this season, the Packers and Ravens have had similar outcomes against the Bengals, the Vikings, and the Browns. Both the Packers and Ravens have lost to the Bengals and Vikings and destroyed the Browns. The Ravens gave the undefeated Broncos their first lost of the season and the Packers ruined the Cowboys’ four game winning streak.

When the Packers and Ravens finally meet, they will have had two more games under their belt. With similar records and both teams needing wins for their playoff dreams, this game should prove to be both exciting and close.
